In 2019, there were 193 FTZs active during the year with a total of 348 active production operations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The largest industries accounting for zone production activity were in the electronics, oil refining, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and electrical machinery sectors. Key economic activities conducted in FTZs are production/manufacturing and warehousing/distribution.
