In addition, members can join other FTZ advocates in educating Congress about the issues that affect their business and tell the story of how FTZs contribute to the U.S. economy.
NAFTZ’s 2024 Legislative Summit and Congressional Visits Day is your opportunity to become briefed on the latest Federal policy developments and FTZ industry priorities, and then to take that information up to the Hill to make sure your own Senators and Representatives understand the importance of the FTZ program and what they need to do to ensure it continues to promote American business and jobs throughout the nation.
Your FTZ colleagues across the country need YOU to deliver the message about the value of FTZs to your own Senators and Representatives. There is no substitute for face-to-face meetings with home-state constituents. Please plan NOW to join us in February.
Smith Dawson & Andrews, our public affairs advisor, will host a Congressional Visits webinar typically held in January (more details released closer to the event date) to help you prepare for the meeting. “This year’s (2022) Legislative Summit brought together a truly remarkable cross section of exceptional speakers, from the FTZ Board and CBP to Department of Commerce, Congressional Offices and the Federal Maritime Commission. Given that there’s no shortage of high-profile trade topics these days (forced labor action, e-commerce growth, USMCA, application of Section 301 and 232 and so many others), this event helps all of us stay on the pulse of government and industry as these issues evolve.”
