Dear FTZ Community,
The National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ) notes with sadness the passing on April 14 of Homer A. Maxey, a giant in the industry. Homer had a very full and accomplished life, which included the establishment of the Hawaii FTZ #9, being one of the original founders of the NAFTZ, serving as the association’s first president, and driving notable reforms to the Foreign-Trade Zone Program that are still impactful to this day. NAFTZ is gratified that we were able to honor Homer’s life and achievements with the creation of the Homer A. Maxey Advocacy Award in 2019 and by conferring on him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Homer’s family, friends, and colleagues.
Please contact me for an address if you wish to send sympathies to Homer’s wife, Mahina, and family.
